Kyle DallaTorre

Somatic Vocal Coach

(she/they)

Kyle currently lives in Los Angeles, CA. She lives on land that was taken once from the indigenous tribe Chumash by people that looked like her. She is committed to decolonization, racial education and white supremacy dismantling and recognizing her own privilege as a white passing, able bodied, cis gendered female. She recognizes and lives by the idea from Resmaa Menakem's book My Grandmother's Hands: Radicalized Trauma and the Mending of our Bodies and Hearts: "We will not end white-body supremacy - or any other form of human evil- by trying to tear it to pieces. Instead, we can offer people better ways to belong and better things to belong to."

Social justice and the recognition of our individual role in it, must to begin with an inner understanding and ongoing healing transformation.

Kyle recognizes that black and brown bodies hold ancestral trauma and experiences that are unknown to white body. She recognizes and honors the indigenous cultures and healing methods that influence the somatic work healing our bodies today. Including Indigenous Americans, African, Chinese, Asian, Shamanic, and Vedic ancestries. The generous and potent wisdom given by great sacrifice is a gift to all bodies to the truth of our connectivity and place in the universe.

She hold her BFA from Cal State Fullerton with a focus on improvisational movement and voice. Dealing with major health issues she was fortunate enough to come to Buddhist teachings and Eastern medicine which she cites as transformational in her healing process and continues to be. She received her yoga teacher training, Fredenkrias movement therapy training, and Ayuvedic training. These deepened her understanding and appreciation of the mind, body, spirit connection.

She continued to study vocal mechanics and techniques as she was teaching with a busy vocal studio. This all styles and all levels studio allowed her the opportunity to present various techniques at various levels while continuing to further her own education from various coaches and various methods.

Students were having breakthroughs both vocally and personally. She was interested in why accessing certain emotions, sensations and relaxing were producing intense emotional reactions. Some of these breakthroughs were accessing memeories, unresolved feelings, and trauma that were surprising to the participant.

She went back to school and received her somatic coaching certification with a trauma informed approach.

Always fasinated with science, she searched for answers as to how she could further help people come into an understanding of this link.

Andrew Byrne's The Singing Athlete, heavily based on the Body Mapping Technique focused heavily on the nueroscience and neuroanatomy of the voice and mechanics was a gamechanger for her and her students.

This method hinges on the theory that the nervous system and the voice are  heavily related, and most vocal issues had a direct link to nervous system triggers.

By using physical movements, sensory activation and motor learning, the body can learn and correct threat responses to produce a healthy resonant sounds, and feels incredible while doing so.

Kyle's focus is mindful and practical bringing the world of somatics, creativity, and voice together.

She is currently enrolled in the Integrative Phycology Institute continuing her education to become a Physcosomatic Therapist.

She has committed her life to helping others find their personal power and self healing potential. She is also completely in love with her best girl in the world, her dog Andie.
